Association of the Handicapped and Disabled Persons visits KPST

Association of the Handicapped and Disabled Persons, led by its Chairman, Mr. Agim Vatovci, today visited Kosovo Pension Savings Trust (KPST). Mr. Vatovci, and his colleagues, was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ymer Havolli, and Managing Director, Mr. Adrian Zalli. Mr. Havolli informed the representatives of this association about the mission of KPST, investment performance and overall operational activities of KPST.

On the other hand, Mr.Vatovci, on behalf of the Association was interested in the possibility of pension savings withdrawal by handicapped disabled persons. On this matter Mr.Zalli informed them concerning the rules on withdrawal of pension savings based on the Law on Pension Funds and CBK rules. Based on this legislation contributors can withdraw funds only in case of: retirement (age 65+), loss of capacity to work – that is disability, and in the event of death. Currently the withdrawal of funds by persons who lose their ability to work, or disabled persons, is done only after a contributor receives a certificate for the loss of capacity to work from the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. Based on this certificate KPST then duly transfers those savings: for accounts with up to 2 thousand euros the entire amount is transferred immediately, and for the accounts with over 2 thousand euros transfers are 150 euros per month, until the entire amount is depleted.

The meeting was closed with an acknowledgment of the Association for the opportunity to get clarification and information, and KPST willingness to continuously communicate with representatives of the Association.
